According to newly released figures, Former president Obama had upped the number of bombs on foreign countries. US forces dropped over 3,000 more bombs in 2016 than 2015, at least 26,171 . Other U.S. bombs also rained down in Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan – seven majority-Muslim countries. According to analysis of official data by Micah Zenko, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, the US dropped 79 per cent of all 30,743 coalition bombs in 2016. While Barack Obama reduced the number of US soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq under his leadership, he leaves the white house having authorized ten times more drone strikes than George W Bush and having been at war for longer than any President in US history. Muslim Aid in UK has donated 10 tonnes of food to help homeless people this Christmas. An estimated 7,500 people attended a food drive at East London Mosque in order to make and collect donations. According to a team from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research's GRAPES-3 data muon telescope in India, the Sun spit out a ginormous mass coronal ejection on June 22 2015 that essentially cracked the Earth's magnetic field. A man of Asian background had his passport photo rejected by a New Zealand government website Because computer thought his eyes were closed. Richard Lee, who was born in Taiwan but raised in New Zealand, ran into trouble when he tried to renew his passport. He was trying to renew his passport, but received an awkward error message when he submitted his picture to Internal Affairs's online passport photo checker. 'The photo you want to upload does not meet our criteria because subjects eyes are closed,' the message read. He later told by Department of Internal Affairs that the photo was rejected because of “uneven lighting on the face.” He added -   “No hard feelings on my part, I’ve always had very small eyes and facial recognition technology is relatively new and unsophisticated,”  “It was a robot, no hard feelings. A Pakistan International Airlines flight with 42 passengers and six crew, including a famous pop singer headed to Islamabad from Chitral has crashed into a mountain after losing contact with the control tower shortly after takeoff, according to Danyal Gillani, a spokesperson for the airline. The flight, PK 661, was traveling from Chitral, a northern tourist destination near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, to Islamabad, the capital, when it crashed, said Saeed Wazir, the deputy inspector general of police in Abbottabad District. “It is a hilly area,” Mr. Wazir said. “The police are on their way.” “But what locals from the crash scene are telling us, the passengers are all burned,” he said. “Smoke and fire are billowing from the debris. Police say five people survived the crash, but the rest of those on board died. Flight CP-2933, which was travelling from Cochabamba, Bolivia to Medellin, Colombia with a stop in Santa Cruz, declared an emergency at 10pm on Monday (3am Tuesday GMT). The chartered aircraft, flying from Brazil via Bolivia, was carrying members of the Chapecoense team. The team was due to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, against Medellin team Atletico Nacional. Some reports claimed that the plane failed to make it to the runway because of fuel shortage.  According to Colombia’s Caracol Radio, there were also eight Chapacoense executives, three guests of the club and 21 journalists on the flight. Ivory-seeking poachers have killed 100,000 African elephants in just three years, according to a new study that provides the first reliable continent-wide estimates of illegal kills. During 2011 alone, roughly one of every twelve African elephants was killed by a poacher.  Up to 30,000 African elephants are killed each year for their tusks; that’s one every 15 minutes, a rate that populations cannot sustain. An increasing number of African elephants are now born tuskless because poachers have consistently targeted animals with the best ivory over decades, fundamentally altering the gene pool.
